The US Defence Secretary has announced that missile defence interceptors will not now be deployed in Poland, thus scrapping the final phase of the European part of the project.  There will be extra interceptors in California and Alaska, to protect against attack from North Korea.   US bombers have carried out simulated nuclear bombing raids on North Korea as part of US/South Korean exercises.

The nuclear Tomahawk cruise missile has been retired.  The US is planning to spend billions making more reliable and accurate its nuclear bombs stored in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy  and Turkey, but is cutting $460m from its nuclear non-proliferation budget.
