Wool Against Weapons – the scarf grow and grows

May 2014

unrolling-scarf-1024x685The project, to create a seven-mile long pink scarf to be stretched from Aldermaston to Burghfield on Saturday 9th August, is gathering momentum. All over the world, people are knitting. On the right is part of the scarf at Faslane in April. Below, some of the intricate and beautiful pieces which will be kept after the rest of the scarf is dismantled and used for blankets for various charities.

WAW bread etc 1Even with all the work going on, the project still needs pieces, and of course a good turnout on the route on 9th August. If you are interested in joining in, please look at the website woolagainstweapons.co.uk or find the Facebook page. The cosmetics company LUSH on New Street in Birmingham  has agreed to store our pink pieces – the manager, Sharon, is very supportive so ask for her if you have any pieces you wish to leave there. Towards the end of June we will be organising a sewing-together session, and WMCND will be able to help with putting people in touch with each other for travelling down on the day.
